"A fine is a tax for doing something wrong. A tax is a fine for doing something right." ~Anonymous

Tax time - the time people either love or hate. It is a bittersweet feeling during tax season. As tax professionals, we see both sides of the spectrum. We see happy people who receive refunds, and the very next client could be someone who owes thousands of dollars that they didn't expect. Our job is to help people in the preparation of their tax return. We do our best to know the tax code (which is no small task in itself) and then to apply it to each unique tax situation we encounter. Only experience can teach us how to do our job well.

WASHINGTON ― Despite the government shutdown, the Internal Revenue Service today confirmed that it will process tax returns beginning January 28, 2019 and provide refunds to taxpayers as scheduled.

“We are committed to ensuring that taxpayers receive their refunds notwithstanding the government shutdown. I appreciate the hard work of the employees and their commitment to the taxpayers during this period,”

said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.
